Thank you for helping to make our first week of school a great success!  We are off to a wonderful start and I am looking forward to a fantastic year in first grade!  This week we are doing an author study on Kevin Henkes.  On Friday, we read Chrysanthemum which is about her loving her name until she started school and was teased.  We talked about how each of our names is special.  I am sending home an “Investigating My Name” paper today.  I am asking that you work with your child to complete this and return back to school by Friday.  Thank you!
In math, we are counting to 120, starting at any given number.  Work with your child on this at home.  (For example:  tell them to count to 120, but start at 64).  They also need to know how to write their numbers to 120, and if given a number be able to tell the number that comes after it or before it.  In Social Studies, we are learning about the Olympics.
